Z60-34

I just bought a 1999 gene z60-34 4-wheel drive , how does the 4-wheel drive work ? I moved it for the first time in snow on a very slight grade on asphalt and only the one steering wheel spun and the machine would not move. Is it posi-traction, limited slip,or what. can someone please explain how it operates
